Midterm project

DATA 101, Spring 2018

For your midterm project, you will essentially create your own lab assignment and briefly present your findings to the class.

Working on your own or with a partner, do the following:

  • Find (and, if necessary, clean) a dataset.
  • Create a Jupyter notebook in which you perform some data wrangling, analysis, and/or visualization.
  • Extract and communicate an insight gleaned from your data analysis.
  • Lightly narrate your process as you go in text surrounding the code blocks.
  • Briefly present your methods and findings to the class (3 minutes plus Q&A for individuals, 6 minutes plus Q&A for partners).
  • Upload your finished notebook into Canvas by Friday, March 9, 8am along with your self-assessment (this will give you some time to make small adjustments or clarifications after your in-class presentation).

Use the lab assignments you have done so far as a guide, but keeping in mind that you can provide less narrative text (and, of course, no instructions!) — only what you need to communicate your findings.

Have fun with this!
